- This fourth volume contains five tales set in Africa, India, and Australia, presented in English for the first time: The Kokombo Dossier, Bwuma, My Son, Warramunga 1856, M’Felewzi, and Pacific Island, first published in 1976, ‘85, ‘91, ‘97 and 2011. The stories are intriguing and poignant, looking at indigenous tribes and peoples, and yet offering us tales of adventure, violence, greed and retribution from more primitive times. To those who know his work, Toppi needs no introduction. He is a true "painter with a pen,” whose work has a texture and complexity unmatched by other artists. He is a true national treasure among Italian comic artists. This new series is doing a magnificent job of collecting his long unavailable work, often translated for the very first time to English.
Astonishingly beautiful work. The first volumes in this series have gone out of print much too quickly; Volume 1 was reprinted but is unavailable again as I write this. Check back on these, and consider it when deciding when to order. This is a wonderful set of books that personally I will highly prize, and I am thoroughly enjoying reading.
